Santa for the Special Needs Child? Let's Make Magic.

Every parent of a small child knows that the whole Santa thing can go one of two ways.
1 - Your child happily skips over to Santa Claus and whisper her heart's desires into his ear. It's the cutest thing when this happens--and it makes for a magical moment and an equally magical Santa photo.
2 - Screams. Tears. Your child's face is terrified, red, and, well... maybe not exactly the holiday memory you were hoping for.
Maybe you can relate to waiting in a long line with your kid and you feel a feeling of anxiety in the pit of your stomach because you really hope you didn't drive out of your way, get your child dressed in his Christmas best, and wait for an hour for a negative experience and no photo to even show for it.
Even though there are so many ways to celebrate Christmas in Charleston, the photo with Santa is a tradition that many parents want to experience with their children. It's SO disappointing if it ends in tears!
But if you happen to have a child with special needs, who gets overstimulated quickly, or is maybe a little less patient the average child it can be even more anxiety producing.
That's why kids with special needs are one of our favorites to work with at the Charleston Santa Experience! Since your child will get one-on-one time with Santa and there's no wait time, she's a lot less likely to be over stimulated or exhausted from the get-go. And there's also no rush. There's plenty of time for your child to get comfortable with Santa. Plus, since our set is magical, there's no need for your child to climb up into Santa's lap if she's not into it.
Basically, no matter what the need is, we can accommodate you and your child and make sure that it's a positive experience that the whole family will cherish for many years to come. We believe that ALL kids deserve the chance to meet, interact, and remember the magic of Santa--and if that means some children need a little extra time to get comfortable, that's OK with us.
But don't just take our word for it. The following testimonial was written by a mom who brought her sweet daughter, Cassandra, who has special needs, to the Castelo Charleston Santa Experience in 2019. Her experience, and her imagery, was absolutely amazing.
"The Santa experience was very magical for Cassandra because she truly believes in Santa and was in awe of him! Loved that he read her favorite story! It was magical for us (her parents) because it was amazing to watch her with Santa. It truly made me tear up! Maria and her team were amazing! I can not say enough of the Beautiful photos we have of Cassandra and Santa. We will treasure them forever!! "
